Hello!
My name is Carly Dempsey, I graduated Fall of 2024 from Florida Atlantic University with my B.S. in Biological Sciences, Honors Research, Minor in Political Science, and certificates in Environmental Science and Undergraduate Research
My research is currently focused on the application of computed tomography (CT) imaging for marine botanicals, specifically three native seagrass species
I'm on a mission to combine my academic knowledge, research experience, and commitment to environmental conservation.

01 CT Research
Starting in Fall of 2023, I began working on my current undergraduate research project, utilizing micro-CT imagery in order to determine aerenchyma patterns across seagrass species, to better understand how this technology can be applied to marine botanicals as well as determine how the mechanics of gas exchange in this critical habitat supporter work for future conservation projects

02 Course Research
Having taken courses at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute for my Senior year, I was able to solely focus on my love for marine life. With courses and labs that enabled me to get into the field, I focused on strengthening my understanding of biostatistics and field identification and broaden my knowledge with genetics research and molecular ecology
03 Conservation Advocacy
With a love of the ocean, it is impossible to ignore the human impacts of today. Becoming a volunteer at local educational centers, a fellow at youth climate coalitions, and an ambassador for companies championing ocean advocacy, such as 4ocean, I have been able to make an impact both locally and nationally
